Forging responsible futures, today.

CHARTING THE FUTURE OF A SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH NGO

Roots of Health is an NGO dedicated to empowering women and the youth in the province of Palawan, Philippines to have agency over their sexual and reproductive health to break the cycle of unwanted pregancies. Their systems-changing model in the last 12 years has led to real, measurable impacts, transforming the lives of the individuals as well as the families and communities they reside in. Faced with expected shifts in leadership, the desire to stabilize the organization and further scale the work for the next decade, they asked the question: How might we reimagine the organization and its programs around the different scales of transformation for Palawan and beyond?

the context

As project lead, designed, facilitated and delivered a multi-month Strategic Foresight engagement with the key leadership, board and team members of the Roots of Health organization through both online and in-person workshops involving Futurescanning, Scenario Building, and Futures Design tools.

the work

the outcomes

A clear Desired Future was imagined that clarified Roots of Health’s Vision & Mission for the coming decade. Over 40 Futurescan cards were produced that helped the team narrow down the key drivers of uncertainty that may imapct their future operations. This allowed them to develop four divergent scenarios and develop the Desired Future they could backward design and create a 10 year roadmap for from 2024 to 2034. This helped them identify key milestones as an organization and the conditions they would need to enact to achieve these goals.
