Bianca Carague is a Netherlands-based Filipino artist and designer who creates virtual landscapes and artifacts that allude to alternate worlds and possible futures.
With a Master's in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, Bianca combines design research with worldbuilding to create compelling narratives that visually reflect on social issues and emerging technologies.
Bianca's work has been recognized by prestigious publications such as Vogue NL, Vogue PH, Elle Decor, FRAME Magazine, BluPrint, and LS:N Global, which have praised her unique perspective on worldbuilding and her pioneering work in game world therapy.
One of Bianca's notable projects is 'Gen C: Children of 2050,' a solo exhibition that imagined four different types of children who could exist in the year 2050 and how the climate crisis would affect the ways they would learn, play and live. By creating immersive environments that took visitors through the children's bedrooms, Bianca sparked critical and creative thinking about the future.
Bianca is also known for her project Bump Galaxy, a Minecraft server for mental healthcare that grew to 3M+ sqm of virtual landscapes for various forms of care during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic by inviting people to play with her. Her participatory approach to worldbuilding and futuring is one that signals prioritizing plurality over coherence.
Bianca has exhibited her work in places such as the London Design Biennale, Dutch Design Week, and Triennale di Milano. Next to her projects and shows, Bianca leads workshops across Europe where she invites participants to build off of her work, engaging them in futures literacy through art.
Overall, Bianca's work is a testament to her passion for creating art that inspires and provokes thought about the world we live in and the world we want to create.
